or, you know, teach people not to rape other people…
Sadly, even if you teach people not to rape, they’ll do it anyway if they really want to, so these are still helpful in the event of rape, OR assault.
These self defense tips are not here to tell a person not to get raped, they are here to tell a person what to do in the event where someone is attempting to rape or assault them.
We do need to teach people not to rape, but we do not yet live in a world where rape and assault does not happen, and until we do, it’s important that we know how to protect ourselves in the event that it does happen.
Someone get tumblr user shinjaninja a medal.
This is something that some Navy SEALs taught girls in my gym class in high school. But there’s another rather effective (and kinda cool) tactic to use.
They used myself (A tall kid at the time, not very big but rather tall) and a rather skinny, tiny short girl for a demonstration. They had me grab the girl’s neck from behind—as pictured in the bottom left—and keep her in a tight headlock. Then the SEALs instructed the girl to drop to one knee and allow gravity to flip me over her shoulder onto my fucking head.
That’s right. No matter how small you might be, or how big and strong your attacker is, you can shift their center of gravity against them and flip them over shoulder with little to no effort on your part, allowing you time to land a blow and get the fuck out of there. And ever since then, I’ve taught my female friends that trick if time and circumstance ever allowed.
Stay safe, ladies.
Imma add another tip:
Pointer and middle finger right under the jaw and push up. Try it, it hurts like hell, and it will get them to lift their head up at which point you can kick or elbow loose.
That one, and under the nose, too. Place your thumb under it, and shove upward. They’ll either back off out of reflex, or you’ll break their nose. Plus, it will shatter their concentration, and they won’t be able to keep a grip on you, which will let you get loose, and give you an opportunity to either escape, or employ another tactic.
The average active adult needs 2,000 calories per day in order to function in a safe and healthy manner. If I’m active to the point where I consistently run 1+ hour every day, then it is far more likely that my caloric needs are around 2,400-2,500.
Considering that, a meal of 1,200 calories would perfectly suit my needs. It would supply roughly half of my calorie requirements, which is a God-send since a fast food meal is relatively cheap. It’s a great value, especially if I don’t have much time to cook or have the resources to prepare my own meals!
The average burger is going to supply me with significant protein and carbs. That’s exactly what I’d need in order to build more muscle and have enough energy to make it through a workout. Even the sugar within the meal can be beneficial in supplying me with a boost of energy and can stop me from feeling hungry for a prolonged period of time. Not half bad.
Is this the most healthy meal known to man? Of course not. But it’s still a very reasonable deal and the calorie count is well within the average adult’s daily needs.
Don’t let calories scare you! You need them. If you were capable of burning off an entire meal within the hour, you’d probably be dead by now.
1200 empty calories in a meal
next to no nutrition. all the calories are sugar and fat. that’s it. you’ll have no energy and have glucose spikes in your blood because the lack of fiber because of the lack of complex carbs. this is diabetes in a meal.
so no, you should not be hungry for diabetes
Nutritionally, this BK meal contains roughly 28g of protein and 3g of dietary fiber. It potentiallyalso includes 35% of our Vitamin C daily requirements, 2% Vitamin A, 12% calcium, and 27% iron. Of the 1,010 calories (that I could verify directly from the company’s nutritional information guide), only 410 are from fat. That isn’t a terribly significant amount of fat, in the long run, nor are the nutrients small enough to be viewed as negligible.
Eating this will not cause you to get diabetes. Eating this meal is perfectly fine if you do have diabetes, as long as you are able to adjust your insulin intake accordingly. So don’t use an illness as your debate point - Diabetic people are not a prop.
"So don’t use an illness as your debate point - Diabetic people are not a prop." I want that and variations of that on t shirts.
damn, man. Someone just got completely schooled by a nutritionist.
Ah you asked the right person if you’re looking for tips on sleeping because I’ve been a sufferer of both long-term and short-term insomnia for about 3 years now so I’ve exhausted many options but the best ways I find are, depending on the extent to which you’re having troubles:
Those nights when you just kinda can’t sleep bc your body is being lame:
The best way to help yourself relax if you’re just having an off night is to listen to instrumental or classical music! I often listen to playlists such as this, this and this!
Imagine scenarios in your head, as if you’re just daydreaming and allow yourself to become completely enveloped in the image of it and often you’ll find yourself drifting off into a dream.
Try drinking chamomile or any form of ‘sleepytime’ tea before bed (I know some people might not like it but this shit 100% works ok)
Clear your head completely and remember that little thing that’s worrying you, and keeping you wide awake is just being amplified by the fact you’re trying to sleep.
Think happy thoughts! I know it sounds stupid but when I was younger and I couldn’t sleep I used to think of the place I loved the most (the sea) and everything would calm down
If you’re having recurring sleeping issues:
Avoid watching TV or being on the computer/phone an hour before you sleep - and if you’re me and this is impossible then you can download apps for your phone and computer that put a red filter over your screen so it filters out the blue light that keeps your brain active. The one I use for my phone is called Twilight by Urbandroid Team.
If calming music isn’t working for you then try listening to nature sounds such as rain/bird sounds. I found that listening to the rain really, really helped. If so, try using this website.
Another thing I used when I was going through a ‘i havent slept more than 6hrs in 4 days’ periods was a thing called Binaural Beats. These are basically a range of different frequency sounds which when played in close proximity (e.g. one through one ear and the other through the other) a third sound is created by the brain (can be known as 3D audio). The different frequencies have different effects on the brain (you can get ones to super-focus as well, I used to listen to these before exams and they really worked). I would recommend trying it, but I warn you it takes awhile to get used to and can cause dizziness sometimes so don’t do anything whilst you’re listening to it! A range of Binaural Beats here!
Avoid taking sleeping pills!! They’re really not that great, trust me. However, if you do choose to personally buy some then go for the herbal kind, they work just as well and are often a great way to relax and sleep!
If your sleeping issues persist then go and see a doctor ASAP!
